Fergana Valley CTN participated at ITB Berlin 2024, the world’s largest travel trade show with more than 5500 exhibitors from 170 countries. GIZ Uzbekistan, through the consulting consortium of mascontour GmbH and Helvetas Germany Intercooperation Gmbh, and in cooperation with the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan and local authorities, supported a stand at ITB in the Adventure and Responsible Tourism Hall 4.1 representing Tourism Networks Along the Silk Road. Visitors had a chance to discover unique and authentic travel experiences from the Fergana Valley (Andijan, Namangan, Fergana regions) and Karakalpakstan.

Furthermore, a presentation on “Sustainable Outdoor Tourism in Uzbekistan” took place at the Lighthouse Stage at ITB on March 6th. The panel included participants from Karakalpakstan, Fergana Valley, GIZ Uzbekistan and IPD – Import Promotion Desk and discussed the potential of tourism as a means of sustainable development, highlighting outdoor and adventure tourism examples from the Fergana Valley and Karakalpakstan, two off-the-beaten-path destinations along the Silk Road. A networking event followed, including performances from Uzbek musicians and artists, as well as vegan Uzbek food as refreshments.
