It’s becoming easier and faster than ever to get to Uzbekistan’s Fergana Valley by plane, train, or vehicle from both domestic and international destinations. Although it may seem remote, the Fergana Valley is actually very accessible from the capital city of Tashkent, as well as from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Once you arrive in the Fergana Valley, it’s quite easy to get around between Andijan, Namangan and Fergana Regions.

Domestic Flights to Fergana Valley
Take a short one-hour domestic flight from Tashkent Airport to Fergana (FEG), Namangan (NMA), Andijan (AZN) or Kokand airports with Uzbek Airways or Silk Avia Airlines. (Note: Silk Avia doesn’t accept international credit cards so ask a local travel agency to book your ticket).
You can also find direct flights from Samarkand or Urgench to Fergana Airport.
Trains to Fergana Valley
Uzbekistan Railways has several trains each day from Tashkent to Andijan with stops in Margilan (serves Fergana City), Kokand, Namangan and Pop in the Fergana Valley. The journey usually takes between four and six hours depending upon the end destination and takes you through the Kamchik mountains. Note: Some trains to Fergana Valley depart from Tashkent North Railway Station while some leave from Tashkent South Railway Station so be sure to check your ticket.
In addition, you can take an overnight train from Khiva to Andijan (20 hours) that goes through Bukhara and stops at Kokand and Margilan train stations.
All trains offer first and second classes and there are different types of trains that service the Fergana Valley. The fastest is the Ozbekistan Train which is a modern, high-speed train that goes twice a day between Tashkent and Andijan with stops within the Fergana Valley while the Night Train is a bit slower with sleeping compartments. You can buy train tickets online on the Uzbek Railways website or app. You can also go to the train station to buy tickets directly or ask a local travel agency to book tickets for you. Tickets usually become available two months before departure, but they sell out quickly so try to book in advance.

Shared Taxis from Tashkent to Fergana Valley
Shared taxis run regularly from Tashkent to the main cities of Fergana, Namangan and Andijan within Fergana Valley. The length of the journey takes between four and six hours depending upon your final destination and also if there is snow in the Kamchik mountains.
The cost depends on the time of year, time of day, and other conditions, but usually ranges between 150,000 – 200,000 UZS / person in a shared taxi. If you have a lot of luggage or need additional space then you’ll pay for this separately.
If you get impatient waiting for other passengers or want a private ride then you would pay the equivalent of four passengers (600,000 – 800,000 UZS) for a private taxi ride from Tashkent to city in Fergana Valley.

International Flights to Fergana Valley
It is becoming easier to fly directly to Fergana Valley from international destinations. You can take a direct flight to Fergana Airport from Istanbul, Moscow, St. Petersburg or Novosibirsk on Uzbekistan Airways, Turkish Airlines, Qanot Sharq Airlines or Ural Airlines.
You can fly directly to Namangan Airport from Kuwait City, Istanbul, Jeddah and different cities in Russia on Uzbekistan Airways, Qanot Sharq Airlines, Jazeera Airways and Ural Airlines. New international flights from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and Istanbul, Turkey are expected to Andijan Airport from November 2025.
By Land from Kyrgyzstan
There are two international border crossings from Kyrgyzstan to reach Uzbekistan’s Fergana Valley. The biggest border crossing is at Dostyk between Osh, Kyrgyzstan and Andijan, Uzbekistan. Dostyk border crossing is just outside Osh and once you cross into Uzbekistan it takes around an hour to reach Andijan city or two hours to reach Fergana city.
The easiest way for international travelers to cross is to walk across the border from Osh and pick up transportation on the Uzbek side. We recommend you contact one of our CTN member tour operators or tour guides to arrange transportation. Otherwise, you can find a shared taxi at the border to Andijan or other cities in Fergana Valley.
Another international border crossing is between Kensey – Uchkurgan to connect Namangan Region in Uzbekistan with Jalal-Abad Region in Kyrgyzstan. Arslonbob, a popular place in Kyrgyzstan for travelers with lots of homestay and hiking opportunities, is only about an hour from the border. It takes around an hour to go from the border to Namangan City.
We recommend that you arrange transport in advance to take you from the Uzbek border to Namangan or wherever you would like to go.
By Land from Tajikistan
The Konibodom – Beshariq international border crossing connects the towns of Khujand, Tajikistan and Kokand, Uzbekistan. It takes around an hour to get from the border to Kokand. As with other border crossings, we recommend that you arrange transport from the border in advance with one of our CTN member tour operators or tour guides.


We recommend hiring a private driver so that you have the most flexibility with your itinerary and time in Fergana Valley. Hiring private transportation allows you the ability to visit places like artisan workshops or natural areas that are not on regular shared taxi or public transportation routes.

Shared Taxi Around the Fergana Valley
Shared taxis go frequently between the main cities and towns of Fergana Valley. While they are one of the cheapest ways to get around, they can also take more time as you need to wait for the car to fill with enough passengers to leave. In addition, they may make several stops along the way.
In each city or town there is either a bus station or area where the shared taxis wait for passengers going a specific direction. Ask at your hotel for the best place to pick up a shared taxi to your desired destination.
There are comfortable government buses with A/C and soft seats that go between Fergana, Namangan and Andijan from the main train stations.
You can also take the train between cities in the Fergana Valley. For example, from Andijan to Kokand on Ozbekiston Train 731 takes 1 hour 45 minutes by train or only 45 minutes from Andijan to Margilan. Just be sure to buy your ticket in advance on the Uzbek Railways website or app.

Getting around by taxi in cities and towns in Fergana Valley is quite easy, safe and transparent with the Yandex taxi app. The costs for your journey are quoted upfront for different types of cars and comfort. Just select the one that you want and either pay by cash or you can add a credit card as payment.
If you can’t download the Yandex app then ask your hotel to arrange for a taxi.
